“QuickBooks is about celebrating the entrepreneurial dream. Each of you had the courage to follow your dream, each of you had the courage to take the lead, to put in the long day, and yes, sometimes the weekends, all in pursuit of your passion.”
Brad Smith, Chief Executive Officer, Intuit
Have courage. Have passion. Surround yourself with people who challenge you. Embrace your community.
These were the prevailing themes of QuickBooks Connect 2017 in lovely San Jose, California.
These particular themes ensured there was never a dull moment this year with an abundance of interesting breakout sessions, wildly inspirational main stage speakers, and plenty of time for networking with new and old friends.
The Main Day began promptly at 9 a.m. Thursday with the sharply dressed Brad Smith, CEO of Intuit, kicking off the day from the main stage.
Brad emphasized the courage and passion behind entrepreneurial dreams before transitioning to the rapidly changing world we live in.
Globalization has both shrunk and expanded the world. It’s changed our view of markets and borders, and it’s opened up new opportunities while creating new competition.”
In this new world, he stressed, embracing new technologies and new processes is the only way to advance with the future.
We either lean into the future or we get lost in the past. But – here’s the key – when doing this, we have to find the way to become newer versions of ourselves without losing who we are in the process.”
What’s New in QuickBooks
(as told by Sasan Goodarzi)
We are creating a global network that will connect you to all the right people to run your business, your time, and your practice. We will bring the power of the millions of customers that are on our platform to drive your prosperity. We want you to be successful.”
Ex. When you are looking for a worker, Smart Connections connects you to workers’ profiles. You will be available to view their expertise, reviews, etc. • Smart Connections can provide insight into if you are paying too much for a service or a product • Smart Connections will bring self-employed and small businesses to accountants and bookkeepers.
Under the accountant tab, in one place, you can see all the work you are doing for your clients – day by day, week by week, month by month. From the top right, you can create new work. You can sort by client, the name of the individual [working with them] to see who has how much capacity. You can sort by customer and see what’s due, whose working on it.
This was created by accountants for accountants.”
Ex. All work can be done in the Accountant tab – books, taxes, payroll, customer & practice management.
One of the things we find very critical is to be able to connect those that work for themselves to accountants. When we connect a small business or a self-employed to our accountants, they are almost 100% more likely to succeed. So, in essence, what we’ve created is something most of you are already familiar with which is LinkedIn.”
Ex. For accountants, you go in and click on the ProAdvisor tab. You can see your profile, profile strength, how many leads you have. You can share the work you are most interested in • For small businesses, it is very easy to search through the ProAdvisors and pick who you want.
Main Stage Speakers
QuickBooks Connect 2017 hosted many great speakers, so many that we couldn’t fit them all in one page. But here are four quotes from four fantastic speakers.
