Disconnected systems and manual processes slowed operations
When Terry Osenbach, Technical Director of Nature Plus, joined the company, operations were largely paper-based and disconnected. They relied heavily on spreadsheets and standalone Microsoft applications, with no integration between systems, including their accounting platform, QuickBooks.
Osenbach recalls the inefficiency vividly:
“We didn’t have any central location, and everybody would work in a spreadsheet and then save it as something somewhere and nobody could link to that or share information across the board. It was all individual islands among themself.”
This lack of system integration made tasks—like managing inventory or generating reports—painstakingly slow and error-prone.

“The accounting was an island onto itself. Reporting was an island onto itself. Everything would skip and go between different systems.,” Osenbach said. “The office manager would have to manually hunt down information because it was never in one place. It would take her all day to do what normally takes 15 to 20.”
Despite using QuickBooks, the team hadn’t activated its inventory management features, leaving critical processes disjointed. Recognizing this, Osenbach was tasked with finding a comprehensive solution to unify their operations.
