Tory Smith is a partner at Bay Leaf Digital, a local marketing agency, and a consultant for Alterity, Inc. Tory graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a B.S. in Information Systems. Tory considers himself a big picture person, which is perfect for a career in strategic marketing.
Tory takes pride in the luxury of the taking a concept or vision, bouncing that vision off like-minded folks, getting their buy-in, and then putting a plan together while working with talented Alterity resources who execute upon that plan — after observing the results that lead to a positive outcome, Tory is proud to have had a hand in it. What Tory values most about his experience at Alterity thus far is how well everybody in the company gels and seems to get along. Tory appreciates the great chemistry and morale of the Alterity team. Something that always brightens Tory’s day is checking to-do items of a list and feeling that accomplishment.
When Tory was little, he wanted to grow up to be the next Johnny Bench, but for the Texas rangers, until this guy named Ivan “Pudge” Rodriguez took that role. As an adult, Tory is confident he would make a terrible pilot.
If Tory could spend an evening in conversation with a deceased person, he would spend it with Eddie Van Halen. Tory wants to know how Eddie learned to play the guitar so well and yet could never read music.
What fascinates Tory the most about technology is how the past 30 years have turned the entire world on its head — the innovations in the past 3 decades have surpassed innovations of the past 3 centuries. It is hard to imagine where we’ll be 30 years from today with all the AI advancements happening as we speak.
